The legal holiday known as "Memorial Day" being
by general and common consent set apart for rest, repose and patriotic
observance, the observance thereof being for the general welfare of
the community, the doing of certain acts hereinafter specified is
deemed to be a serious interruption and desecration of the patriotic
sentiment of the community and such acts are prohibited.
All trades, manufactures, agricultural or mechanical
employment on Memorial Day are prohibited, except that when the same
are works of necessity, they may be performed on that day in their
usual and orderly manner so as not to interfere with the patriotic
observance of that day.
A violation of this article shall be punishable
by a fine of not more than $50 or by imprisonment for not more than
30 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
