A Department of Public Works is hereby continued as a part of the municipal government of the town.
The head of the Department of Public Works shall be designated "Commissioner of Public Works," and his deputy shall be designated "Deputy Commissioner of Public Works."
The Commissioner of Public Works and the Deputy Commissioner shall be appointed by the Town Board. All other employees of the said Department of Public Works shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Public Works, subject to the approval of the Town Board, and shall be removable by the said Commissioner of Public Works, subject to the approval of the Town Board.
The head of the said Department of Public Works and his deputy shall hold office for the term of two years after his appointment and until his successor shall have qualified; provided, however, that the said head of the Department of Public Works and his deputy shall be removable at the pleasure of the Town Board.
A. 
Commissioner of Public Works. The powers and duties of the Commissioner of Public Works shall be as follows:
(1) 
Supervising of all special improvement districts.
(2) 
Acting as consultant and reporting to the Zoning Planning Board.
(3) 
Acting as consultant and reporting to the Board of Appeals.
(4) 
Acting as consultant and reporting to the Town Board.
(5) 
Supervising the Building Inspector of the Town of Pittsford.
(6) 
Such other duties as the Town Board shall now or in the future determine.
B. 
Deputy Commissioner of Public Works. The powers and duties of the Deputy Commissioner of Public Works shall be as follows:
(1) 
He shall be under the direction of the Commissioner of Public Works, the Supervisor and the Town Board of the Town of Pittsford, New York.
(2) 
He shall assume the duties of the Commissioner of Public Works upon his absence.
(3) 
He shall plan and supervise new sidewalk construction.
(4) 
He shall perform such other duties as the Town Board or the Commissioner of Public Works shall assign.
