The Adah, Edenborn, Footedale, McClellandtown and Ronco Fire Departments organized and existing in the Township of German are hereby designated as the officially recognized fire companies for the Township.
A. 
The fire companies recognized by the Township are hereby authorized to provide such services to the Township as may be necessary for the protection of property and persons therein, which include by way of example and not limitation, the extinguishment of fires and prevention of loss of like and property from fire, participation in rescues, assistance and coordination of personnel at automobile accidents, assistance during medical emergencies, assistance and coordination of personnel during hazardous materials incidents and other dangerous and emergency situations (including, but not limited to, natural disasters, acts of God, accidents, man-made events), and assistance at, coordination of and participation in search and rescue operations.
B. 
The fire companies recognized may provide non-emergency and public service functions; such as, by way of example and not limitation, removing water from property after storms, assisting in the removal, abatement and prevention of damage or injury to persons or property (whether as the result of natural causes or man-made situations.
C. 
The fire companies recognized may conduct and participate in such training activities and drills, either within or outside of the Township, as may be deemed necessary by the office of the fire companies, to maintain proficiency in providing service.
D. 
The fire companies recognized may conduct and participate in fund-raising events, bingo games and similar activities.
E. 
The fire companies recognized may respond to emergency or non-emergency calls and provide services and assistance to municipalities outside of the Township pursuant to mutual aid agreements, whether formal or informal.
F. 
The fire companies recognized by the Township may, on behalf of the Township of German, perform the following:
(1) 
Seek reimbursement, from the appropriate person/persons, entity/entities and/or agent/agencies, of any and all reasonable costs and expenses identified and incurred by the said fire companies in performance of the services authorized.[1]

(2) 
Coordinate the reimbursement and collection process for any and all reasonable costs and expenses identified and incurred by the said fire companies in performance of services authorized.[2]

(3) 
Allocate the proceeds of any monies recovered as a result of the said reimbursement and collection process.
(4) 
Issue invoices, fire lawsuits and/or undertake any and all action which it deems necessary and appropriate to collect reasonable costs and expenses, from the appropriate person/persons, entity/entities and/or agents/agencies, identified and incurred by the said fire companies in the performance of services authorized.[3]

(5) 
Enter into a contract with an appropriate collection agency to undertake the actual collection of said costs and expenses.
By January 31 of each year, the said fire companies shall provide a written report to the Board of Supervisors of German Township identifying and itemizing all costs and expenses for which collection was sought and identifying all monies actually collected as the result of collection efforts undertaken by the said fire companies during the preceding calendar year.
In addition to actually participating in the activities of the fire companies as authorized above, or in going to or returning from any activity, the members of the fire companies recognized by the Township are also authorized to do the following:
A. 
Engage in any type of drill, training, ceremony, practice, test or parade when duly called for or authorized by an officer or officers of the fire companies.
B. 
Engage in fund-raising activities for the fire companies, when authorized by an officer or officers of the fire companies.
C. 
Engage in the performance of any other duty or activity authorized by any officer of the fire companies.
The purpose of this article is to recognize Adah, Edenborn, Footedale, McClellandtown and Ronco Fire Departments as the official fire companies of the Township of German and to state additional authorized activities for fire fighters for purposes of the Workers' Compensation Act.

A. 
The following associations are hereby recognized as actively engaged in providing fire protection and/or emergency services in the Township of German: Adah, Edenborn, Footedale, McClellandtown and Ranco Fire Departments.
B. 
The above named associations have been formed for the benefit of their members and their families in case of death, sickness, temporary or permanent disability or accident suffered in the line of duty.
C. 
The above-named associations of the Township are designated the proper associations to receive such funds as are due and payable to the Township Treasurer by the Treasurer of the State of Pennsylvania from the tax on premiums from foreign fire insurance companies.
The Board of Supervisors shall annually certify to the Auditor General of the commonwealth the names of the active associations and the percentage of service they contribute to the protection of the Township. Such certification shall be on forms prescribed by the Auditor General.
There is annually appropriated from the Township Treasury all such sums of money that may hereafter be paid into the Township Treasury by the Treasurer of the State of Pennsylvania on account of taxes paid on premiums of foreign fire insurance companies pursuant to the Foreign Fire Insurance Tax Distribution Law, the Act of December 18, 1984, P.L. 1005, No. 205, 53 P.L., § 895.701 et seq., as hereafter amended, supplemented, modified or reenacted by the General Assembly of Pennsylvania. Such monies received by the Township Treasurer from the State Treasurer shall be distributed to the duly recognized associations within 60 days of receipt. The funds shall be distributed on the basis of the percentage of service established in the certification to the Auditor General and with other provisions of the Act.
