The Fire Chief of the Fire District or his designated
representative is hereby authorized to establish fire lanes on property
owned by or leased to the Town or upon private property devoted to
public use. The designation by the Fire Chief or his designated representative
of such fire lanes shall not make the Town responsible for maintenance
of the fire lanes on private property. The owner of such property
shall continue to be responsible for the maintenance of such area.
The official record of the designation and location
of fire lanes shall be kept in the office of the Building Inspector.

Notice to post. Upon the designation of a fire lane
pursuant to this article, the Fire Chief or his designated representative
shall give notice of such designation to the owner of such area, directing
the owner to cause signs to be posted at the expense of the owner
at designated locations.

Installation.
(1)Â
Signs shall be installed at every 50 feet of designated
fire lane, with a minimum of two signs per designated fire lane.
(2)Â
Signs must be secured to a fixed object such as a
post or building. The post or building shall not be set back more
than 10 feet from the curb.
(3)Â
Signs must be so mounted as to maintain a clear, unobstructed
view by motorists.
(4)Â
Signs must be mounted a minimum of seven feet and
no more than eight feet from grade level.
Parking of motor vehicles in fire lanes or otherwise
obstructing fire lanes shall be prohibited at all times.
A vehicle illegally parked in a fire lane may
be towed away at the expense of the owner.
