Pursuant to the authority and subject to the requirements of N.J.S.A.
40A: 9-146 et seq., the position of Township Tax Assessor, heretofore established
by the Township Committee, is hereby created, continued and confirmed. The
Township Tax Assessor shall be a person qualified as a tax assessor in the
State of New Jersey pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-146 et seq. Such person shall
be appointed by the Township Committee for a term of four years from the first
day of July next following the appointment. Vacancies other than due to expiration
of the term shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term only. The
position may be full time or part time, as determined by the Township Committee.
The Township Tax Assessor shall perform all duties as required by N.J.S.A.
40A:9-146 et seq. and the other New Jersey Revised Statutes, New Jersey Administrative
Code provisions and directives of authorized state agencies applicable to
tax assessors. To the extent the activities of the Tax Assessor are not regulated
by the state, the Tax Assessor shall be subject to the personnel policies
of the Township and shall report to the Chief Financial Officer.
The Township Tax Assessor shall be paid in accordance with the annual
Salary Resolution within the guidelines set forth in the Salary Ordinance.
