The duties and responsibilities of the Committee
shall include, but not be limited to:
A. Creating a network of community leaders, private citizens
and representatives from public and private human service agencies
who are dedicated to a comprehensive and coordinated effort to promote
and support substance abuse prevention and education programs and
related activities with an emphasis on youth.
B. Conducting an assessment of the community to determine
its needs in relation to substance abuse issues.
C. Identifying existing efforts and services acting to
eliminate or reduce substance abuse.
D. Coordinating projects within the municipality to avoid
fragmentation and duplication.
E. Developing programs to be implemented at the municipal
level and/or participate in regionally developed programs that accomplish
the purposes of the Cranbury Township Municipal Alliance Committee.
F. Assisting the municipality in acquiring funds for
Committee programs.
G. Cooperating with the Governor's Council on Alcoholism
and Drug Abuse and the County Local Advisory Committee on Alcoholism
and Drug Abuse/County Alliance Steering Subcommittee to provide municipal
data, reports or other information which may be required for the County
Annual Alliance Plan or needed to assist the Alliance effort.
It is acknowledged that cooperative relationships
are necessary to effectively develop the municipal alliance network
and to maximize coordination and avoid duplication of efforts and
to assure effectiveness of resources, including volunteers and funds.
In this regard, the Committee is directed to determine how to best
work with and/or join municipal groups such as drug and alcohol task
forces, municipal youth service commissions, youth task forces, other
municipal alliance committees, county alliance committees and other
groups compatible with the purposes and function of an alliance.
The Cranbury Township Municipal Alliance Committee
on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse shall report on an annual basis to the
Township Committee on its works and the extent to which it is carrying
out the purposes set forth in this Chapter.
