The Township of Falls hereby creates a Board
of Historical Architectural Review pursuant to the authority of the
Act of Assembly of June 13, 1961, as amended (53. P.S. § 8001
et seq.), composed of not less than five members, membership of which
shall be composed of at least one registered architect or qualified
building contractor with documented experience in historic preservation
or historic reconstruction of buildings and the remaining members
to be persons with knowledge of and interest in the preservation of
historic districts.
One of the members shall be designated to serve
until the first day of January 1964, one until the first day of the
second January thereafter, one until the first day of the third January
thereafter, one until the first day of the fourth January thereafter
and one until the first day of the fifth January thereafter. Their
successors shall be appointed upon the expiration of their respective
terms, to serve five years. The members of the Board shall be removable
for cause by the appointing authority, upon written charges and after
public hearing. Vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term of
any member whose term becomes vacant.
The Board of Historical Architectural Review
shall advise and give counsel to the Board of Supervisors on the advisability
of issuing any certificate of appropriateness regarding applications
for building permits for the erection, reconstruction, alteration,
restoration, demolition or razing of any building, in whole or in
part, in the Historical District of Falls Township as defined in the
amended Township Zoning Ordinance.
