The owner or occupant of every dwelling house, store, office building
or other building or structure which now fronts or may hereafter front upon
any public street within the Township of Waterford shall cause the street
number assigned to the property upon which said dwelling house, store, office
building or other building or structure is erected to be placed in digital
figures only.
It shall be the duty of the Tax Assessor to determine such numbers and
to delineate them on the Tax Maps; a lot of land, for the purpose of this
chapter, shall be a unit of the minimum width required for building purposes
on the street upon which it fronts by the Building, Zoning or Planning Ordinances of the Township of Waterford.
Even numbers shall be on the southerly and easterly sides of said streets
and odd numbers on the northerly and westerly sides of said streets. Numbers
of streets which continue in any other municipality shall, so far as may be
possible, be designed to conform to numbers established in said municipality
or to provide for a continuation of the numbering in said other municipality
when established.
The owner or owners of every building fronting on said streets shall
apply to the Tax Assessor for the correct number of the lot upon which such
building stands and shall at his own expense place and display such number
on the front of such building.
Said number shall be of such size and material and placed in such a
substantial manner on the dwelling, store or other improvement so as to be
conspicuous and visible from the street, road, avenue, lane or way on which
it fronts or from which access to it is had.
If said dwelling, store or other improvement has such setback location that the provisions of §
100-5 cannot be complied with, then the owner or occupant shall provide a post, rod or other type of fixture of a substantial nature with the number affixed thereon and located on the premises so that the number shall be conspicuous and visible from the street, road, avenue, lane or way on which the premises front or from which access to it is had.
The enforcement of this chapter shall be vested in the Bureau of Fire
Prevention, the Police Department and the Construction Official of the Township of Waterford.
Any person, firm or corporation violating the terms of this chapter
shall, upon conviction thereof, be subjected to a fine, in the discretion
of the Judge of the Municipal Court, of not more than $1,000 or imprisonment
for a term not exceeding 90 days or a period of community service not to exceed
90 days, or any combination thereof.
