The purpose of the Senior Citizens' Board is to:
A. 
Advise and assist senior citizens within the Town of Huntington in participating fully and meaningfully within our community and society.
B. 
Advise and assist in promoting the social integration of senior citizens for companionship and recreational purposes.
C. 
Advise and assist in answering inquiries of senior citizens relative to achieving and attaining benefits and advantages made available to them.
D. 
Assist and advise senior citizens in utilizing and maximizing their experiences, training and capabilities in a method and manner most beneficial to themselves and the community.
E. 
Assist and advise senior citizens as to resources available to them and refer or direct them to the appropriate governmental departments and agencies for advice, assistance and available services.
A. 
Appointments. The committee shall be known as the "Town of Huntington Senior Citizens' Board" and shall be composed of sixteen (16) members, who shall be appointed by the Town Board of the Town of Huntington for a term not exceeding four (4) years, and shall include at least one (1) clergyman, one (1) attorney, one (1) physician, eight (8) senior citizens and the remaining five (5) members shall be designated as follows:

(1) 
The Director of the Town of Huntington Senior Citizens.
(2) 
The Town Attorney of the Town of Huntington or a member of the staff.
(3) 
The Director of the Town of Huntington Transportation and Traffic Safety Department[1] or a member of the staff.

B. 
Four (4) of the aforementioned members shall initially be appointed for a one-year term and thereafter for a four-year term. Four (4) of the aforementioned members shall initially be appointed for a two-year term and thereafter for a four-year term. Four (4) of the aforementioned members shall initially be appointed for a three-year term and thereafter for a four-year term. Four (4) of the aforementioned members shall initially be appointed for a four-year term and thereafter for a four-year term.
The presiding officer or Chairman of the Board shall be designated by the Town Board from the members so appointed to the said Board. The Town Board shall have authority to remove any members of the Board so appointed, for cause, after a public hearing, if requested by the removed member. A vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as an original appointment.
The members of the Senior Citizens' Board shall serve without compensation and shall be reimbursed by monthly claim voucher for actual expenses incurred as a result of meetings of the Board.
The term "Board" shall be interpreted to include committee or council.
