For the purpose of securing to the public the
benefits of new developments in the construction field and of ensuring
public safety, the Code Enforcement Officer may make or cause to be
made investigations, or may accept duly authenticated reports from
reliable sources, of new materials or modes of construction intended
for use in the construction or alteration of buildings or structures
which are not provided for in this chapter or in the Uniform Code.
The Board of Trustees may thereafter, upon recommendation of the Code
Enforcement Officer, adopt regulations setting forth conditions under
which such materials or modes of construction may be used.
