The Selectmen shall appoint the members of the
Council on Aging consisting of seven members. Three members shall
be appointed for three years, two members for two years and two members
for one year. Members may be appointed for concurrent terms. Members
shall serve without pay.
Whenever a vacancy shall occur in the membership
of the Council, by reason of death, resignation, inability to act
or for any other reason, the vacancy shall be filled by appointment
by the Selectmen for the period of the unexpired term.
The Council on Aging shall, as soon as possible
after the members are appointed, and annually thereafter, at its first
meeting after the Annual Town Meeting, elect from its membership a
Chairman, a Vice Chairman, a Secretary and a Treasurer. Each officer
shall hold office until the next Annual Town Meeting. In the event
that a vacancy occurs in any of these offices, the Council shall elect
one of its members to fill the vacancy.
