As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
DRAINAGE FACILITIES
Includes ditches, gutters and pipes alongside the roadway, culverts under the roadway and ditches and pipes established for carrying off stormwater through private property.
PRIVATE STREET OR ROAD
Any undedicated street or road on private property or on property of the State of New Jersey, where buildings front upon that private street which is not designated as a street by the Township, regardless of whether or not the Township performs resurfacing, pavement maintenance or pothole repair and patching.

ROADWAY
That portion of a street or road accessible to traffic and usually lying between curbs and drainage facilities.
SIDEWALK AREA
The area adjacent to a public Street that includes the full right-of-way width, including the paved sidewalk, grass, gravel, or dirt, as well as, public drainage facilities, measured from inside of the curb, to the property line directly in front.
STREET OR ROAD
The full right-of-way width, including sidewalks, curbs and drainage facilities, of any public street, road, avenue or lane within the Township, but excluding county roads and state or national highways.
SUPERVISOR
The Superintendent of Operations, who, as provided in Chapter 4, Administration of Government, is the head of the Division of Operations in the Department of Public Works.
TOWNSHIP ENGINEER
The head of the Engineering Division (or his/her designee) as provided in Chapter 4 of the Township Code.
TOWNSHIP-OWNED STREET OR ROAD
A street or road which has been accepted by the Township.
UNACCEPTED DEDICATED STREET OR ROAD
Any street or road used for access to two or more houses and dedicated to public use but the ownership of which has not been accepted by the Township.
The Township may accept the ownership of unaccepted dedicated streets if and when such streets are improved in accordance with the specifications of the Township Engineer and so improved at the expense of the property owners abutting thereon or benefited thereby.
