There is hereby created and established in the City of Albany a Division of Workforce Services within the Department of Youth and Workforce Services (Part
12 of this chapter) which shall consist of a Division head and such assistants as may be authorized by the Board of Estimate and Apportionment.
The Division head and the assistants or employees
of the Division shall be appointed by and removed at the pleasure
of the Commissioner of the Department of Youth and Workforce Services.
The Division of Workforce Services shall be
charged with the following duties and powers:
A. To implement and oversee the efficient execution of
programs dealing with workforce development, such as education, employment
and training services for employers and jobseekers; aging services;
public employment for the disadvantaged and disabled; veterans services;
educational programs; and a committee for correctional services, as
well as such other programs as may be deemed necessary from time to
time to be carried out by the City of Albany.
B. To represent the City in submitting applications to
agencies which might serve as funding sources for workforce development
related programs within the City of Albany or in collaboration with
other local governments or workforce development agencies.
