Be it ordained, by the Board of Supervisors
of Northumberland County, Virginia, pursuant to and under the authority
conferred by § 3.1-796.93 of the Code of Virginia 1950,
as amended, as follows.

All dogs kept, housed, penned or otherwise whose
dwelling place is regularly or periodically within the confines of
the following subdivisions within Northumberland County, Virginia,
are hereby prohibited from running at large: Sherwood Forrest Subdivision,
Locksley Hall Subdivision, Northumberland Shores Subdivision, Rivers
Bend Estates Subdivision, Mallard Bay Subdivision, Bay Quarter Shores
Subdivision, Chesapeake Beach Estates (Bayshore Development), Twin
Harbors Subdivision, Bay Harbor Estates Subdivision, Chesapeake Harbor
Subdivision near Wicomico Church, Northumberland Plantation Subdivision,
Tides on the Chesapeake Subdivision, Betz Landing Subdivision, White
Sand Harbour, Swann Harbor Subdivision and Fleeton Beach Subdivision.
For the purpose of this article, a dog shall
be deemed to run at large while roaming, running or self-hunting off
the property of its owner or custodian and not under its owner's or
custodian's immediate control; provided, however, that no dog whose
normal dwelling place is outside said subdivision, nor any dog engaged
in lawful hunting beyond said confines that shall thereafter stray
within, shall be deemed to run at large, provided that the owner or
custodian shall place such dog under his or her immediate control
within a reasonable time after knowledge thereof.
Any person who, in violation of this article,
permits his or her dog to run at large shall be subject to a fine
of not more than $100.
