Building construction — See Ch. 45.
Pursuant to § 15.2-906 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, owners of property in Northumberland County are required to remove, repair or secure any building, wall or other structure which might endanger the public health or safety of other residents of Northumberland County, and, if the owner and lien holder of such property, after reasonable notice and a reasonable time to do so, has failed to remove, repair or secure the building, wall or other structure, the county, through its own agents or employees, may remove, repair or secure such building, wall or structure with the cost or expense thereof chargeable to and paid by the owners of such property, which may be collected as taxes are collected, with such cost which remains unpaid constituting a lien against such property ranking on parity with liens for unpaid local taxes and enforceable in the same manner as provided in Articles 3 (§ 58.1-39-40 et seq.) and 4 (§ 58.1-3965 et seq.) of Chapter 39, Title 58.1, of the Code of Virginia, as amended.
