A.
Pursuant to § 9-183a(b) of the Connecticut
General Statutes, as amended, the number of Justices of the Peace
to be selected in 1996 and quadrennially thereafter shall be no more
than 60.
B.
Pursuant to the provisions of § 9-183b of the Connecticut General Statutes, each major political party as defined by § 9-372(5) of the Connecticut General Statutes shall be entitled to nominate 2/3 of the total number of candidates for selection pursuant to Subsection A.
C.
Pursuant to § 9-183c, a minor political party as defined by Connecticut General Statutes § 9-372(6) shall be entitled to nominate 20% of the total number of Justices of the Peace to be selected pursuant to Subsection A.
D.
Pursuant to § 9-184c of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Town Clerk shall appoint in the manner provided in said section as Justices of the Peace a number of electors who are not members of major parties as defined in § 9-372(5), which number shall not exceed 1/3 of the total number of Justices to be selected pursuant to Subsection A, less the number of Justices of the Peace in Town selected pursuant to § 9-183c.
Pursuant to Section 9-189a of the Connecticut
General Statutes and commencing with the next succeeding regular election
for such office, Registrars of Voters shall be elected for four-year
terms.
A.
In accordance with Section 301 of the Charter, the
Manager is authorized to sign and attend to the filing of lien certificates
for public improvements, which is one of the administrative powers
of the Selectmen not otherwise assigned by the Charter.
B.
The Town Manager is authorized and directed to exercise
and discharge the powers and duties concerning elections which are
conferred by the General Statutes upon Selectmen, except for those
powers and duties of Selectmen concerning the qualifications and admission
of electors.

A.
Pursuant to Section 7-19 of the Connecticut General
Statutes, as amended, and Section 501 of the Charter, there are established
in the office of the Town Clerk three positions of Assistant Town
Clerk.
B.
In the absence or inability of the Town Clerk, such
Assistant Town Clerk shall have all the powers and all the duties
as may be required of him by action of the Town Council.
C.
The employment classifications for the three positions
of Assistant Town Clerk shall be those set forth in the current employment
classification regulations adopted by Council.
As provided in Section 601 of the Charter, a
Director of Finance shall be appointed by the Manager, and the Manager
shall cease be the Director of Finance.
The Manager is authorized to appoint a Director
of Recreation and Parks in accordance with Sections 404 and 604 of
the Charter, and the Manager shall cease to be the Director of Recreation
and Parks upon the effective date of such appointment.
In accordance with Section 603 of the Charter,
there shall be the office of the Deputy Director of Public Works.
The duties and responsibilities of such office shall be prescribed
by the Director of Public Works.
The following Town officials and employees shall
file with the Town Clerk surety bonds in the following amounts, conditioned
upon the faithful performance of their respective duties, and the
premium shall be paid by the Town:
The Manager is authorized to appoint a Purchasing
Agent in accordance with Section 712 of the Charter, and the Manager
shall cease to be Purchasing Agent upon the effective date of such
appointment.
