The purpose of this article is to authorize
certain village employees, hereinafter designated, to issue and serve
appearance tickets, returnable in local criminal courts, with respect
to designated offenses of less than felony grade, upon persons when
such village employees have reasonable cause to believe that such
persons have committed one or more misdemeanors or petty offenses
in the presence of any such village employees. The authorization and
designation herein made are pursuant to the power vested in the Board
of Trustees under and by virtue of Chapter 495 of the Laws of 1978,
amending the Criminal Procedure Law and the Municipal Home Rule Law.
In granting such authority to the village employees so designated
herein, it is the intention of the Board of Trustees to supplement,
and not in any way to substitute for or diminish or replace, any existing
enforcement authority or practice now vested in or exercised by members
of the Nassau County Police Department or any other duly authorized
law enforcement agency or officer with respect to the offenses hereinafter
mentioned.

A. The Building Inspector and the Superintendent of Buildings of the village and such other employees of the Building Department as the Mayor may designate from time to time, in writing, filed with the Village Clerk, are hereby authorized and empowered, pursuant to state law, to issue and serve appearance tickets with respect to violations of the provisions of the following chapters of the Code of the Village of Westbury whenever such violations have been committed by any persons in the presence of any of said village employees: Chapter

B. The Superintendent of Public Works, the Highway Supervisor, the Sanitation Supervisor and such other employees of the Department of Public Works as the Mayor may designate from time to time, in writing, filed with the Village Clerk, are hereby authorized and empowered, pursuant to state law, to issue and serve appearance tickets with respect to violations of the provisions of the following chapters of the Code of the Village of Westbury whenever such violations have been committed by any person in the presence of any of said village employees: Chapter

C. All code or parking enforcement officers and attendants
and such other employees of the Village as the Mayor may hereafter
designate from time to time, in writing, filed with the Village Clerk,
are hereby authorized and empowered to issue and serve parking tickets
and appearance tickets for violations relating to parking, licensing
or occupations or businesses, fire prevention and safety, health and
sanitation, and building zoning and planning and for any of the following
provisions of the Westbury Code:
