No licensee shall install or cause to be installed
or alter electrical wiring for light, heat or power in or on properties
in the Village of Westbury until an application for inspection has
been filed with the New York Board of Fire Underwriters or other inspection
agency as approved by the Examining Board of Electricians.
No licensee shall directly or indirectly allow
his license to be used in connection with work not actually done by
him or under his supervision as a master or employing electrician.

In case a license or certificate of competency
is lost or destroyed, a copy of such lost document marked "duplicate"
may be issued upon the filing of an acceptable affidavit attesting
to the fact that the said document was either lost or destroyed and
upon payment of a fee in an amount as set forth from time to time
by resolution of the Board of Trustees.
This chapter shall not be construed to relieve
from or lessen the responsibility of any person owning, operating,
controlling or installing any electrical wiring, devices, appliances
or equipment for loss of life or damage to person or property caused
by any defect therein, nor shall the Village of Westbury be deemed
to have assumed any such liability by reason of any license issued
pursuant to this chapter.

A.
Service-entrance cables. Service-entrance cables shall
be of the protected type or be protected by conduit or electrical
metallic tubing, said protection to extend at least eight feet from
finished grade.
B.
The minimum wire size for all electrical circuits
shall be No. 14 American wire gauge copper wire. The use of aluminum
wire or wire utilizing aluminum in combination with other materials
where the principal metallic component of such wire is aluminum, including
but not limited to nickel-clad and copper-clad, and where the gauge
is American wire gauge No. 4 or smaller, is prohibited. Aluminum wire
or wire utilizing aluminum in combination with other materials may
be used where the principal metallic component of such wire is aluminum
and where the gauge is American wire gauge No. 2 or larger, only when
termination and splicing of such wire is by New York Board of Fire
Underwriters approved compression connectors.

C.
The use of nonmetallic-covered, i.e., romex, SEU,
wire shall be prohibited in all commercial, industrial and multiple
residence buildings.

D.
All bedrooms in residential units shall have at least
one independent three-wire grounded circuit outlet of 110/200 volts
located within two feet of a window capable of containing an air-conditioning
unit. This requirement shall not apply if a central air-conditioning
system is installed within the residential building.

E.
All one- and two-family residential services will
be installed with a main disconnect. The use of split-bus panels and/or
the increase of six means of disconnect will be disallowed.

F.
All residential central heating systems will be wired
with armored cable pipe or conduit to extend a minimum of four feet
from the unit. Within this area, all wiring will be rated 90°
C. or better and shall carry an insulation rating of at least 600
volts.

G.
There shall be no more than one electrical meter for any single-family dwelling and accessory buildings as defined in § 248-2 of Chapter 248, Zoning; there shall be no more than two electrical meters for any two-family dwelling and accessory buildings as defined in § 248-2; and there shall be no more than one electrical meter per any dwelling unit of a multiple-family dwelling unit as defined in § 248-2.
