This chapter shall be known as the "Building Construction Law of the
Town of Harrison."
It is declared to be the public policy of the Town of Harrison that
the town's building codes shall be in conformance in all respects with
the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code, as referenced
in Article 18 of the New York State Executive Law, so that a single adequate,
enforceable code exists which establishes standards for, among other things,
the construction, maintenance and use of materials in buildings. It is further
declared to be the policy of the Town Board to exercise its authority pursuant
to § 10 of the New York State Municipal Home Rule.
The town's building codes shall hereby be superseded by the New
York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code, and all construction
of buildings in the Town of Harrison shall be governed solely by the New York
State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code.
This chapter shall be applicable to any construction of any building
which has not commenced on the effective date of this chapter. Code enforcement
officials, including, without limitation, the Building Inspector of the Town
of Harrison, shall enforce this chapter.
