Pursuant to Chapter 610 of the Laws of 1941
(known as the "Putnam County Police Act") and any amendments, additions
or supplements thereto currently in effect, the Town Board may establish
a Police Department for the Town of Kent. The police officers of the
Town of Kent shall have such powers and authority as provided by the
aforementioned Putnam County Police Act and shall be subject to such
rules and regulations as may be adopted from time to time by the Town
Board and to such administrative procedures as may be required by
statute.
There is hereby created the position of Police
Surgeon, who shall be a qualified medical doctor. Said Police Surgeon
shall be appointed by the Town Board for a term of one year at such
compensation as the Town Board shall set by resolution. The duties
of the Police Surgeon shall be to examine all applicants for appointment
to the Police Department, to examine any or all members of the Police
Department as provided by § 154-a of the Town Law, to check
on reported illnesses of policemen and to perform such other duties
as the Town Board may assign to him.
