The Town Board of the Town of Kent, as provided
by the Town Law [§§ 20(2) and 60(2)], shall consist
of the Supervisor, two Town Justices and two Councilmen, and shall
have such powers and duties as are set forth in the Town Law, as amended
and in force [Town Law, § 60(2) (Second Class Towns) and
§ 64 (powers generally)], and the Municipal Home Rule Law.
The Councilmen for the Town of Kent shall be
elected for terms of four years as provided by the Town Law, § 24,
and shall serve in a lawmaking capacity as members of the Town Board.
The Town Justices for the Town of Kent shall
be elected for terms of four years as provided by the Town Law, § 24,
and shall have such qualifications as provided under Town Law, § 31(3).
In addition to serving in a lawmaking capacity as members of the Town
Board (Town Law, §§ 60 and 60-a), the Town Justices
are also judges in the state unified court system with such powers
and duties as may be found in the Town Law, § 31, and elsewhere
as provided by law.
