[Adopted as Ch. 8 of the 1979 Code]
No local law shall be adopted by the Town Board
of the Town of Southampton until a public hearing has been held thereon
in its final form before such Town Board not less than three nor more
than 30 days after public notice has been given of the time and place
of the holding of such public hearing. Such notice shall be given
by the Town Clerk by causing the same to be published once in the
official newspapers of the Town. Such notice shall contain the title
of the proposed local law and a brief explanatory statement thereof.
The Town Clerk shall cause to be printed or

and shall also make copies of such proposed local law available at
his office for inspection by and distribution to any interested person
during business hours.

[Adopted 3-24-1992 by L.L. No. 6-1992]
The actions of the Town Board in enacting local
laws, ordinances and resolutions without prior review of fiscal impacts
has resulted in deviations from adopted budgets which have had adverse
tax impacts. The purpose of this Article is to require the preparation
of fiscal impact statements before action by the Town Board so that
the fiscal implications of proposed actions will be known in advance
of decisionmaking.
