An Industrial and Commercial Incentive Board
is hereby established in and for the Town of Southampton and shall
work in coordination with the Southampton Town Business Advisory Council
in an advisory capacity to the Town Board.
The powers and duties are as follows:
A. The Board shall review the economic conditions of
the Town of Southampton and make recommendations on the basis of such
review to the Town Board with respect to actions it deems desirable
to improve the economic climate in the Town of Southampton.
B. The Board shall make recommendations to the Town Board
with regard to the percentage of the business investment exemption
from real property taxes to be allowed pursuant to § 485-b,
Subdivision 7, of the Real Property Tax Law.
C. The Board shall provide input to the Town Board on
any matter referred to it by the Town Board.
D. The Board
shall work in cooperation with the Suffolk County Industrial and Commercial
Incentive Board.

E. The Board
shall work in cooperation with the Town’s Business Advisory
Council and school districts.

A. The Board
shall be comprised of members who shall be appointed by and serve
at the pleasure of the Town Board. Terms shall commence on January
1, 2012. Members shall be appointed to serve a two-year term and may
be reappointed to two additional two-year terms. The membership of
the Board shall include the Supervisor and a member of the Town Board
as ex-officio members. The membership of the Board shall include a
representative from the Department of Land Management, the Town Attorney’s
office, the Comptroller’s office, the Assessor’s office,
a local business organization, the Chambers of Commerce, and two community-at-large
members, reflecting, as much as practicable, the many types of businesses
in the Town, the community interests, and the diverse geographical
areas in which Town businesses operate.
B. The Board
shall select its own Chairperson and establish its own procedural
rules and regulations, including a calendar of meeting dates. A majority
of the members of the Board shall constitute a quorum.
