The 1997 Edition of the National Fire Prevention
Association NFPA 101 Life Safety Code is hereby adopted as the Life
Safety Code of the City, with the following changes:
A. Section 1-3.1 is amended to read as follows:

1-3.1 New and Existing Buildings. The code applies to both new construction and existing buildings.
In various chapters there are specific provisions for existing buildings
that might differ from those for new construction.

Exceptions:

(1)
|
Owner-occupied one- and two-family homes.
|
|
(2)
|
Conditions which in the opinion of the authority
having jurisdiction do not present a distinct hazard to life or property.

B. Section
1-3, Application, is amended by the addition of the following Section 1-3.14:

1-3.14 Requirements for handicap
or barrier-free access shall be controlled by the Building Code adopted
by the City.

C. Section 19-2.1, General, is amended by the addition
of the following Section 19-2.1.2:
|
19-2.1.2 Exits in existing apartment
buildings shall be in conformance with the Nashua Housing Codes.

Any person violating any of the provisions of the Life Safety Code or failing to comply with any order issued pursuant to any section thereof shall be guilty of a violation and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to punishment as provided in §
1-12 of the City Code for each offense. Each day that a violation continues shall be deemed a separate offense.
