A. There is hereby established a Commission to be known
as the "Economic Development Commission for the Township of Westampton."
B. The Commission shall consist of seven members, including
the Deputy Mayor, three lay people and three business people. The Commission
shall select its Chairman.
C. The Deputy Mayor shall serve a term concurrent with his
position as Deputy Mayor. The other members shall serve three-year staggered
terms.
A. The Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Committee,
shall make the appointments to the Commission. The Mayor, with the advice
and consent of the Committee, shall designate the first appointed members
to serve for one-, two- and three-year terms.
B. To be eligible to serve on the Commission, a person must
be 18 years of age or older and must reside in the township, work in the township
or have a place of business in the township.
The Commission shall be strictly an advisory committee and shall perform
the functions and exercise the powers hereinafter enumerated:
A. It will develop ways and means of promoting Westampton
Township's economic development and attracting industry, transportation and
other potential economic interests.
B. It will make recommendations to attract industry and
forward the same to the Township Committee for consideration, and upon approval
it shall implement such programs.
C. The Commission shall not exercise any power of condemnation
or eminent domain and shall not be authorized to pledge the credit of the
Township of Westampton or to create any debt against it or in any manner act
as the agent of said Township of Westampton.
D. It shall classify vacant lands and commercial and industrial
sites according to their adaptability for the settlement thereon of various
types of industrial enterprises.
E. The Commission shall make an annual report to the Township
Committee at the first meeting in December.
