Rappahannock County, Virginia, a political subdivision, created by Acts of Virginia, 1833, acting by and through the Board of Supervisors, elected on January 6, 1960, to have such of the employees and officers of the County, who are regularly employed full time on a salary basis and whose tenure is not restricted as to temporary or provisional appointment, to become eligible, effective as of January 1, 1960, to participate in the Virginia Retirement System, under the conditions set forth in § 51.1-101 et seq. of the Code of Virginia, as such code has been or may be amended from time to time, and said County agrees to pay its cost for participation of its employees for all services for Rappahannock County prior to January 1, 1960, for which credit is authorized and established on forms required by the Retirement Board, and for membership service in the system after such date and also to deduct from said employees' wages and pay over in the manner prescribed the respective amounts required by law. 36-2 are included as a record of the election by Rappahannock County to participate in the Virginia Retirement System. Section 51.1-101 et seq., Code of Virginia, have been recodified, and amended in part, and are now found at § 51.1-124.2 et seq., Code of Virginia.)

Effective January 6, 1960, E.M. Jones, Chairman
of the Board of Supervisors, Rappahannock County, and James M. Settle,
Clerk, were authorized and directed, in the name of said County, to
execute any required contract in order that employees of Rappahannock
County may become entitled to benefits provided under the Virginia
Retirement Act. In execution of any contract which may be required,
the Seal of said Rappahannock County shall be affixed and attested
by the Clerk, and said officers of Rappahannock County are hereby
authorized and directed to do any other thing or things incident and
necessary in the lawful conclusion of this matter and in conformity
with law. The Treasurer of Rappahannock County shall be and is hereby
authorized and directed to pay from time to time such sums as are
due to be paid under said contract by Rappahannock County and its
employees.
