The office of Assistant Town Clerk is hereby created; the Assistant
Town Clerk shall assist the Town Clerk and, in the absence of the Town Clerk,
for any reason, the Assistant Town Clerk shall have all of the powers of the
Town Clerk.
The Assistant Town Clerk shall be appointed by the Town Manager, who,
in making this appointment, shall consult with the Town Clerk and obtain the
Clerk's recommendation.
The position of Assistant Town Clerk, which may be combined with some
other position in the Town service, shall be part of the classified service.

The Town Council, upon recommendation of the Town Manager and/or Town
Clerk, may authorize the appointment of an additional Assistant Town Clerk,
or Assistant Town Clerks, without additional compensation.
