During the month of January, 1972, the Board of Selectmen shall appoint
a commission to be known as the "Academy on the Green Commission," which Commission
shall be appointed in the following manner and shall have the following powers
and duties.
The terms of office of said members shall be as follows:
A. The five members shall serve for terms of five years;
provided, however, that initially in January 1972, one member shall be appointed
for a term of one year from February 1, 1972; one for a term of two years
from February 1, 1972; one for a term of three years from February 1, 1972;
one for a term of four years from February 1, 1972. Thereafter, in the month
of January of each succeeding year, a member shall be appointed for a term
of five years.
B. In the event of a vacancy in the term of any member described in Subsection
A hereof, the Board of Selectmen shall appoint a successor to serve for the balance of the term vacated.
C. All terms of office described in Subsection
A hereof shall be effective as of February 1 in any year.
Said Commission is empowered to adopt such rules and regulations for
the use of the Academy of the Green as are consistent with the historic nature
of said Academy.
Said Commission is also empowered to accept any gifts, grants, donations
and/or bequests made to it from any source and to utilize the same to enhance,
maintain and/or preserve said Academy.
