There is hereby adopted and incorporated by reference, as if set out at length herein, in order to prescribe minimum requirements and controls to safeguard life and property from the hazards of fire and explosion, that certain code known as the "2000 International Fire Code," published by Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc., subject to the modifications hereinafter provided.

Three copies of the International Fire Code adopted herein are on file with the City Clerk, kept with the city ordinance book and available for public use, inspection and examination. In addition, the City Clerk has copies available for distribution to the public at cost.
The provisions set forth in this chapter and in the International Fire Code adopted herein shall take effect immediately upon enactment of this chapter and shall apply throughout the entire municipality.
All of the provisions of Chapter 94, Code Enforcement, are hereby adopted with this chapter. The administration and enforcement of this chapter and of the International Fire Code herein adopted shall be carried out by the Office of Code Enforcement in accordance with the procedures established by Chapter 94 and by the International Fire Code herein adopted. Chapter 94 provides for certain powers and duties of a Code Enforcement Officer, for the creation of a Code Hearing Board and for procedures relative to applications, fees, permits, inspections, appeals, penalty and other matters.
The following words, as used in the International Fire Code herein adopted, shall have the following meanings:
ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITY
Office of Code Enforcement.
FIRE OFFICIAL
Chief of the Fire Department.
A. 
A permit shall be required for all activities, uses and other operations specified in the International Fire Code adopted herein. Such permits shall be issued in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, of Chapter 94, Code Enforcement, and of the International Fire Code adopted herein.
B. 
There shall be a fee of $25 for the establishment and operation of any use activity provided in the International Fire Code where such use requires a permit.[1]

Any person, firm or corporation who or which violates any of the provisions of this chapter shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000, plus costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment thereof, shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not more than 90 days. Each day's continuation of a violation shall constitute a separate offense.
