This article shall be known as the "Shaler Township One- and
Two-Family Dwelling Code Ordinance."
The Township Code is amended to include Chapter
90, Building Construction, Article
I, entitled the "International One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code," which code is incorporated herein by reference as if more fully set forth herein at length, with the additions, insertions, deletions and changes, if any, prescribed in §
90-4 of this article.
A certain document, three copies of which are on file in the
offices of the Building Inspector/Zoning Compliance Officer and the
Township of Shaler, being marked and designated as the International
One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code, 1998, as published by the International
Code Council, be and is hereby formally adopted as the code of the
Township of Shaler for regulating the design, construction, quality
of materials, erection, installation, alteration, repair, location,
relocation, replacement and addition to, use or maintenance of building,
mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems in the Township of Shaler
and providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor;
and each and all of the regulations, provisions, conditions and terms
of such International One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code, 1998 edition,
published by the International Code Council, on file in the office
of the Township of Shaler, are hereby referred to, adopted and made
a part hereof as if fully set out in this article.
The following sections of the International One- and Two-Family
Dwelling Code 1998, as published by the International Code Council,
are hereby revised as follows:
A. Section
101.1, Title, is amended by inserting "the Township of Shaler."
B. Section
106.4, Penalty, is amended to read as follows:
Section 106.4 Penalty: Any person, firm, partnership,
corporation or organization who or which violates any of the provisions
of this article, upon conviction in a summary proceeding, shall be
sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $300 nor more than $1,000
and, in default of the payment of the fine and costs, shall be committed
to the Allegheny County Jail for a period not to exceed 30 days. Each
twenty-four-hour period during which failure to comply continues shall
constitute a separate offense. Nothing contained herein shall be deemed
to preclude the Township to seek other relief or avail itself of any
remedy that may be available at law or in equity to prevent continuing
violations of the terms of this article.
C. Section
108.1, Alternate materials, methods and equipment, is amended by inserting
"the 1996 BOCA National Code."
D. Table
301.2(1), Climatic and Geographic Design Criteria, is amended to include
the following criteria:
(1) Roof snow load: 20 pounds per square foot.
(2) Wind pressure: 70 miles per hour.
(5) Frost line depth: 36 inches.
(6) Termite: Moderate to heavy.
(7) Decay: Slight to moderate.
(8) Winter design temperature for heating: Per manufacturer's specifications.
(9) Radon-resistant construction: Zone 1.
