As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
BOW
Includes any implement which impels with force any arrow
or dart.
FIREARM
Includes any rifle, shotgun, revolver, pistol or any implement
which impels with force a metal pellet of any kind.

The use or discharge of any firearm or bow in the Township within
2,000 feet of any building is hereby prohibited except by duly authorized
law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties or by
persons in defense of their property.
It shall be illegal to operate a target, skeet, trap or archery
range in the Township except with a permit obtained as follows:
A. The person or organization proposing to operate said range shall
make written application to the Township for a permit.
B. Upon application, the Township shall inspect the range or site selected
to determine both the safety of the facilities and adequacy of the
supervision provided.
C. Upon completion of the inspection, the Township may issue a permit
for the use of said range or site.

Any person, firm, corporation or group of individuals found
in violation of this article shall, upon conviction thereof before
any issuing authority, be subject to a fine of up to $1,000 and may
be sentenced to a period of incarceration not exceeding 90 days in
the Allegheny County Jail. Each incident in violation of this article
shall be considered a separate offense and may be punishable as such.
This penalty clause shall not preclude the Township from seeking further
relief in law or equity in a court of competent jurisdiction in this
commonwealth.

The entire area embraced within the corporate limits of the
Township of Shaler be and the same is hereby designated as a bird
sanctuary.
It shall be unlawful to trap, hunt, shoot, attempt to shoot
or molest in any manner any bird or wild fowl or to rob bird nests
or wild fowl nests.
Violation of any of the provisions of this article shall be
punishable by a fine of not more that $100 or imprisonment not exceeding
30 days.
