It shall be unlawful for the owner or operator of any truck, tractor, tractor-trailer combination, bus, trailer, commercial vehicle, recreational vehicle (as defined in §
143-9 of the Code of the Township of Springfield) or vehicle other than passenger car or station wagon to cause or permit any such vehicle to stand upon any portion of any public highway within the Township of Springfield during the hours of each day commencing at 7:00 p.m. and ending 7:00 a.m. in the morning following, except at such locations where signs permitting such parking have been erected by the Public Safety Committee of the Board of Commissioners of Springfield Township.
The provisions of this ordinance shall not apply
to:
A. Vehicles of the Township of Springfield, fire apparatus,
ambulances or vehicles engaged in the work of a public utility.
B. Vehicles actually engaged in the course of construction
or repair of streets or while actually engaged in making deliveries
or rendering services in or upon any property adjacent to the highway
where said vehicles are parked.
C. Disabled motor vehicles subject to the provisions of Ord. No. 801, enacted April 4, 1967 (Chapter
76 of the Code of the Township of Springfield).
D. A vehicle not considered a “commercial vehicle”
or a “recreational vehicle” is a personal vehicle, with
a gross vehicle weight of less than 9,500 pounds and less than 84
inches in height operated solely for the pleasure of the owner or
user and not bearing any sign, lettering or commercial advertising
of any nature, nor ostensibly displaying items such as ladder racks,
tool racks and the like which lend themselves to a commercial vehicle.

Any owner or operator of a vehicle violating any provision of §
138-27 hereof shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $30 together with costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment thereof, shall be liable to imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed 10 days.
