Effective January 1, 1983, the office of elected Auditor is vacated.
Effective January 1, 1983, the audit of the accounts of Butler Township shall be completed by an independent auditor, who shall be a certified public accountant, registered in Pennsylvania, a firm of certified public accountant so registered, or a competent public accountant, or a competent firm of public accountants.
An independent auditor authorized by this chapter shall be appointed, annually, by resolution before the close of the fiscal year, to make an independent examination of all of the accounts and accounting records of the Township for the fiscal year then closing.
Such independent auditor, as appointed by the Board of Commissioners of Butler Township, shall have and possess all of the powers and perform all of the duties provided for the elected auditors.
The compensation of any independent auditor appointed by the Butler Township Board of Commissioners shall be fixed by the Board of Commissioners.
