The Board of Commissioners of the Township of
Butler finds that the indiscriminate discharge of firearms is dangerous
to the residents of the Township and that the restriction of such
indiscriminate discharge of firearms is in the public interest.
No person, except law enforcement officers in
pursuit of their duties, shall fire or discharge any gun or other
firearm at any place within the Township of Butler, except in necessary
defense of person or property or except when lawfully engaged in hunting.
Any person who shall violate any provision of
this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof by a District Justice,
be sentenced to a fine of not less than $100 nor more than $1,000
and costs of prosecution and, in default of payment of such fine and
costs, to imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 30 days.
