Notwithstanding the provisions of the annual budget and salary plan ordinance relative hereto, a member of the Johnston Town Council shall have his or her medical benefits coverage suspended in the event that he or she shall acquire or be entitled to medical benefits coverage which is equal to or greater than that coverage plan which is provided by the Town.
No member of the Johnston Town Council shall be entitled to reimbursement (either partial or total) for waiving or declining medical coverage from the Town. Further, no member of the Johnston Town Council shall be entitled to maintain dual medical coverage through the use of any medical policy maintained by the Town.
A member of the Johnston Town Council shall notify the Town of his or her acquisition or entitlement to medical benefits coverage, as referenced in § 74-12 herein, within 30 days of acquiring said medical coverage from any source or entity. Should any member fail to apprise the Town of the acquisition of said equivalent or greater medical coverage, the Town, through the Office of Personnel, shall notify said Council member in writing of its intent to suspend medical benefits coverage to said Council member.
