For the purpose of protecting the inhabitants of the Town from the dangers
incidental to the operation, installation and maintenance of oil- and gas-burning
burners and equipment, and for the preservation of the health, safety and
welfare of the inhabitants, this chapter is enacted.
Where the circumstances or conditions of any particular installation
are unusual and such as to render the strict application of this chapter impracticable,
the Plumbing Inspector may permit such modifications as will provide a substantially
equivalent degree of safety.
The Plumbing Inspector or Deputy Plumbing Inspector may make such further
rules and regulations pertaining to this chapter as in their discretion will
best serve to further the purpose of this chapter. All such rules and regulations,
including the setting of fees and charges for permits, shall be submitted
in writing to the Town Council for approval and upon approval by Town Council
shall become a part of this chapter.
If any oil or gas heating apparatus, installations or piping shall be installed contrary to the provisions of this chapter, the owner, general contractor, supervising engineer or architect and master plumber shall all and severally be deemed to be in violation of this chapter and subject to the penalties provided in §
230-6, regardless of the time of commencement and completion.
