The City of Hudson operates under the Mayor-Council
form of government.

The elected officials of the City shall be the mayor, elected
from the City at large, a Municipal Judge and Alderpersons, with three
of the Alderpersons being elected each year. The officers shall be
elected each year for terms of two years, except the Municipal Judge
and the Mayor, and they shall hold office until their successors are
elected and qualify. The Mayor shall be elected from the City at large
every three years.

A. Enumerated. The following shall consist of the appointed
officials of the City, and the method of appointment shall be as indicated:

B. Term
of office. All such officers shall be appointed for indefinite terms,
except as may be otherwise provided by contract as authorized under
Wisconsin law.

C. Removal. All such officers appointed by the Common
Council shall serve at the pleasure of the Common Council until their
successors are appointed and qualify, unless the office is vacated
by resignation or death or unless such officer shall be removed by
the Common Council in accordance with applicable Wisconsin law.

A. Salaries
and compensation of appointed City officials and employees shall be
determined by the Common Council from time to time.
B. Salaries
for the Common Council members and the Mayor shall be determined in
accordance with Wisconsin Statutes.
The salary for Council members shall be set at $500 per month.
This salary shall first take effect for Council members elected from
Aldermanic Districts Two, Three and Four after the 2018 spring election.
This salary shall first take effect for Council members elected from
Aldermanic Districts One, Five and Six after the 2019 spring election.
The salary for the Mayor shall be $1,500 per month. This salary shall
first take effect for the Mayor after the 2018 spring election.

Wisconsin Retirement Fund. The City elects to
include eligible City personnel under the provisions of the Wisconsin
Retirement Fund in accordance with W.S.A. §§ 40.01
and 40.02. See Charter Ordinance No. 75.

Pursuant to § 66.0502(3)(a), Wis. Stats., the City
shall not impose any residency requirement on any City employee, with
the following exceptions provided for in § 66.0502(4)(b), Wis.
Stats.:
A. The Police Chief, the Chief of St. Croix EMS, the
Fire Chief/Fire Inspector, full-time sworn police officers, and full-time
Fire Department personnel shall live within 15 miles of the jurisdictional
boundaries of the City.
B. Full-time employees in the positions noted in Subsection
A above, who live more than 15 miles outside the jurisdictional boundaries of the City when this section is adopted, shall be exempt from the residency requirement in §
59-6A.

A. Appointment procedure. The City Administrator shall
be appointed by a two-thirds vote of the entire Common Council. Selection
and appointment of the City Administrator shall be based solely upon
the principles of merit and fitness. The City Administrator shall
serve at the pleasure of the Common Council or as provided by contract.
B. Powers and duties. The City Administrator shall have
such powers and duties as may be delegated and conferred by the Common
Council in the form of a job description which may, from time to time,
be amended or changed by the Council.
