The City of Oconto Falls is organized and governed
under the provisions of Ch. 62, Wis. Stats. The City operates under
the Mayor - Council form of municipal government.

The Council shall consist of the Mayor and two
Aldermen from each Aldermanic District. The Common Council shall be
vested with all powers of the City not specifically given to an appointed
officer, as well as those powers set forth elsewhere throughout the
Code. The Council does obligate the City of Oconto Falls to pay, and
the City will pay to the County Treasurer, all tax money received
by the City which is required to be paid to the County Treasurer,
pursuant to § 70.67(2), Wis. Stats.
The new Council shall meet the third Tuesday
of April following a regular spring election in those years in which
spring municipal elections are held.
The majority of the members of the Common Council
shall constitute a quorum. The Mayor shall not be counted in computing
a quorum. No action shall be taken unless a quorum is present.
The Council, at its reorganizational meeting
on the third Tuesday of April following the spring election, shall
elect from its members a President for a one-year term. The President,
in the absence or inability of the Mayor, shall have the power and
the duties of the Mayor, except that the President shall not approve
an act of the Council which the Mayor has disapproved by filing objections
with the Administrator - Clerk/Treasurer. When so officiating, the
President shall be referred to as "Acting Mayor."

No person shall be elected by the people to
a City office who is not, at the time of his/her election, a citizen
of the United States and of the State of Wisconsin and an elector
of the City and, in the case of a ward office, a resident of that
ward and residing therein.
