Definitions. Unless otherwise expressly stated, the following
terms shall, for the purposes of this chapter, have the meaning herein indicated:
CROSS-CONNECTIONS
Any physical connection or arrangement between two otherwise separate
water supply piping systems, one of which contains potable water and the other
water of unknown or questionable safety, whereby water may flow from one system
to the other, the direction of the flow depending on the pressure differential
between the two systems.
HOUSE SERVICE
Includes "house service, street" and "house service, private property"
as hereinbelow defined.
HOUSE SERVICE, STREET
That portion of the service line which connects to the water main
in the street and ends with the curb box located between the pavement and
the property line.
INSPECTOR
The Town Building Inspector or the person or persons appointed and
duly authorized by the Town to inspect and approve the installation of water
lines and their connection to any water system.
PERSON
Any individual, firm, company, association, society, corporation
or group.
RECOMMENDED STANDARDS FOR WATERWORKS
Bulletin No. 42 of the New York State Department of Health, entitled
"Recommended Standards for Water Works" adopted by the Great Lakes Upper Mississippi
River Board of State Sanitary Engineers, or such other similar regulations
as may be adopted by the New York State Department of Health.
SUPERINTENDENT
The Superintendent of Public Works of the Town of Goshen or the Town
officer having charge of public works in the Town.
TOWN OF GOSHEN or TOWN
Includes the various water districts within the Town and the Town
Board of the Town of Goshen acting as and for said water districts.
WATER ANALYSIS, BACTERIAL
A determination of the bacterial content, including total number
of bacteria and bacteria of the coliform type.
WATER MAIN
The large pipe in the street conducting water from one end of the
street to the other.
WATER SUPPLY SYSTEMS
Water supply systems of or within Town water districts and water
supply systems within real property subdivisions, whether or not within Town
water districts, and includes any and all water systems where a common source
of water supply serves two or more separately owned properties.
