There is hereby established, in and for the
Borough of Hasbrouck Heights, a Volunteer Auxiliary Ambulance Squad,
the purpose of which is hereby declared to be the rendering of aid
and assistance to the ambulance company of the Fire Department of
the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights as the same has been established
and is governed by law and ordinances but nevertheless separate and
distinct from said Fire Department and the ambulance company thereof,
except as hereinafter specifically provided.
The Fire Commissioner or, should there be one,
the Fire Committee shall formulate such rules and regulations governing
the organization and operation of this Squad as he or it deems reasonable
and appropriate to carry out the purpose and intent of this article,
which rules and regulations shall become effective upon adoption of
this article by resolution of the Mayor and Council. Nevertheless,
when in actual aid or assistance of the ambulance company, the members
of this Squad shall be under the direct command of the officers of
the ambulance company and shall be subject to the same rules and regulations
as imposed upon its members.

A gratuity to the members of the Squad shall
be given and paid at such rate as the Mayor and Council may, by resolution,
direct.
