Each candidate being considered for a full-time paid municipal position
with the Borough of Netcong shall submit to a criminal history record background
check. The Administrator shall request that the chief law enforcement officer
of the Borough conduct such a criminal history record background check on
all candidates for full-time paid municipal positions prior to appointment
by the Borough. Each candidate shall submit to being fingerprinted for such
purpose in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws, rules and
regulations. The Borough is authorized to exchange fingerprint data with and
receive criminal history record information from the State Bureau of Identification
in the Division of State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for
purposes of this chapter.
In order to obtain criminal history record information, the Administrator
or his or her designee, shall:
A. Direct all candidates for full-time paid municipal positions
to the Netcong Borough Police Department to arrange an appointment for obtaining
a criminal history record background check.
B. Each candidate shall submit to the Netcong Borough Police
Department the candidate's name, address and written consent for a criminal
history record background check and shall be fingerprinted by the Police Department.
C. The chief law enforcement officer of the Borough shall
transmit the criminal history record background information to the Administrator
for review prior to the Borough considering the candidate for employment.
A fee of $48 shall be paid by the Borough for the cost of the criminal
history record background check. Said fee shall be transmitted to the State
Bureau of Identification for the purpose of conducting the criminal history
record background check.
