Borough of Dover, PA Chapter 38 School Crossing Guards

§ 38-1 Hiring; oversight.

The Borough Council of Dover Borough hereby authorizes the Board of School Directors of the Dover Area School District to assume the hiring and oversight of the school crossing guards and to assume the cost of compensation, including fixing such compensation of the school crossing guards.

§ 38-2 Areas of authority.

School crossing guards shall be authorized only in the management of traffic and pedestrians in and around areas identified by the Northern York County Regional Police Department and the Dover Area School District Superintendent or his or her designee.

§ 38-3 Training; hiring of auxiliary policemen.

A. The Northern York County Regional Police Department is hereby authorized to provide the necessary training and assistance to the school crossing guards while on duty.

B. Auxiliary policemen, appointed as prescribed by general law, may be hired by the Dover Area School District to serve as school crossing guards.

§ 38-4 Notification of Borough Council.

The Board of School Directors of the Dover Area School District shall notify Borough Council of those individuals hired to serve as school crossing guards.
