A.
A person or contractor must obtain a permit from the Engineering
Department to place a dumpster in a public street. A permit will only
be issued if the applicant can demonstrate that no off street placement
area exists. The dumpster shall be placed adjacent to the edge of
the roadway and must be removed within 72 hours. No dumpster may be
placed in a location where parking is prohibited or where it is deemed
a hazard to traffic by the Police Department.
B.
Dumpsters must display markers consisting of amber or red reflective
diamond shaped markers (N.J.S.A. 27:51-1), having a minimum size of
18 inches by 18 inches. The panels shall be mounted on each end of
the dumpster, facing the direction of oncoming traffic and have a
minimum mounting height of three feet.
