A Police Department is hereby formally established in and for the Borough
of Economy. The Mayor shall be the chief executive of the Police Department.
He shall be in charge of the police force and have supervision over its members
in the exercise of their powers, duties and authority.
The following classifications are hereby established in the Police Department:
Chief of Police, Lieutenant, Sergeant, patrolman, street safety patrolman,
deskman and radio operator and such clerical help as the Council may appoint
from time to time. The number of persons to serve in each of such subordinate
classifications on a full-time or a part-time basis and the compensation of
each shall be as determined by the Borough Council from time to time.

Nothing herein contained shall affect the authority of the Mayor or
to appoint special policemen in accordance with the provisions of the Borough
Code.
All acts and deeds heretofore lawfully performed by the existing police
force and the appointments of all members of the present police force, effective
as of the dates of their employment, are hereby ratified, adopted and approved.

Upon the occurrence of any disaster or emergency, other
than a labor disturbance, in any neighboring municipality, or occasions when
an on-duty policeman may have to leave the Borough on business, if the Mayor
or the Chief of Police of said municipality, requests the Mayor of Economy
Borough the emergency assignment of police equipment, auxiliary police and
members of the regular police force for the period of such emergency, the
Mayor, in his discretion, shall transfer the police equipment, auxiliary police
and members of the regular police force to the requesting municipality, in
sufficient numbers and amount to aid in meeting the disaster or emergency.

During such period the transferred police and equipment
shall be under the jurisdiction of the Chief of Police of the municipality
to which they are transferred.
A.Â
Upon the occurrence of any disaster or emergency, other
than a labor dispute, in the Borough of Economy, the Mayor or Chief of Police
of the Borough of Economy may request from any neighboring municipalities
the emergency assignment of police equipment, auxiliary police and members
of the regular police forces of other municipalities for the period of such
emergency.

During such period, the transferred police and equipment
shall be under the jurisdiction of the Chief of Police of the Borough of Economy.

During such period, the transferred police shall have
the same powers as regular police officers of the Borough of Economy.
