There is hereby created in and for the Township of Hanover the position to be known as "Police Prosecutor," which position shall be filled by an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey.
The term of the Police Prosecutor shall be one year but shall expire on the 31st day of December of each and every year, whether or not the position has been filled for the entire year.
The Police Prosecutor shall prosecute criminal matters, quasicriminal matters, motor vehicle violations, complaints instituted by members of the Township of Hanover Police Department, complaints instituted by officials of the Township, but specifically excluding Zoning and Health Ordinance[1] violations, and shall be responsible for rendering advice on all legal matters submitted to him by the Judge or Police Department.

The Police Prosecutor shall receive such retainer or fees as may be authorized by the Salary Ordinance of the Township.[1]
