The office of Supervisor of Public Works, which
individual shall be charged with the duties involved in the cleaning,
maintaining, building and repairing of roads, bridges, culverts, drains
and structures and such duties and responsibilities as created by
this article, is hereby established.
The Supervisor of Public Works shall:
A. Investigate all complaints received concerning the
road system within the township and recommend such corrective measures
as are indicated therefor.
B. Assign men and equipment to various road projects.
D. Inspect road projects under way daily and render such
advice and assistance as is necessary when difficult and unusual problems
arise.
E. Inspect all work upon completion thereof to see that
proper procedures and reasonable standards of workmanship have been
maintained to the end that desired objectives are achieved.
F. Supervise the grading of roads and the location and
installation of curbs.
G. Obtain and supervise the storing, safeguarding and
use of township road equipment, materials and supplies.
H. Prepare adequate schedules and direct the operation
for all snow removal programs within the township.
I. Maintain adequate records and files embodying all
of the activities within the Department of Public Works of the Township
of Lopatcong and submit such reports as may, from time to time, be
required by the Township Council for submission to it.
The following requirements, together with those
which may hereinafter, from time to time, be established by the Township
Council, shall be necessary for qualifications and selection for the
position of Supervisor of Public Works:
A. Two years of supervisory experience in cleaning, maintaining,
building and repairing roads, bridges, culverts, drains and structures.
B. Thorough knowledge of the processes used in cleaning,
maintaining, building and repairing roads, bridges, culverts, drains
and structures and the varied equipment, materials and supplies used
in these processes and of the proper methods of caring for equipment
and materials.
C. Ability to direct subordinates in the effective procedures
used in the cleaning, maintaining, building and repairing roads, bridges,
culverts, drains and structures and to provide them with needed advice
and assistance.
The Supervisor of Public Works shall be paid
such annual salary as may from time to time be provided for in the
Salary Ordinance adopted by the governing body of the township.
