As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
LAUNDROMAT, LAUNDERETTE, LAUNDRY or DRY-CLEANING ESTABLISHMENT
A business conducted in a building wherein there is located one or more automatic machines, self-service, coin-operated or otherwise, for washing, drying or dry-cleaning of clothes and washable or other materials.
No person, firm, partnership, corporation or any other entity shall operate, conduct, permit or carry on the business defined in § 171-1 unless the proprietor or some other responsible person in charge of the premises is in attendance and on duty at all times between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 7:00 a.m., provided that said premises are open for business between those hours.

Any violation of this chapter shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding $1,000 or by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the Judge hearing the same. Each day that said violation continues shall constitute a new and separate offense.
