Pursuant to the Interlocal Services Act (N.J.S.A. 40:8A-1 et seq.), the County of Burlington is authorized to provide public health services of a technical and professional nature, provided by the County Health Department, as agent of the Municipal Board of Health in compliance with the Local Health Services Act, P.L. 1975, c. 329 (N.J.S.A. 26:3A2-1 et seq.).[2]

The Township of Mount Laurel shall enter into a contract with the County of Burlington essentially providing that the County Health Department shall provide public health services which meet the standards of core and elective activities enumerated in Standards of Performance as promulgated by the Public Health Council of the State of New Jersey. The public health service activities are categorized under Administrative and Supporting Services, Environmental Health, Communicable Disease, Maternal and Child Health and Chronic Illness and are listed in said agreement. The Mayor and Municipal Clerk of this municipality are hereby authorized and directed to execute said agreement on behalf of this municipality.
