[Adopted STM 9-30-1974 by Art. 9 as Ch. IV, Secs. 7, 8, 11,
12 and 29, and Ch. V, Sec. 19, of the 1975 Bylaws]
No person shall allow any sink water or other
impure water to run from any house, barn or lot occupied by him or
under his control, into any street or waterway or highway in the Town
of Southwick.
No person or persons shall at any time whatever
carry into or through any public street of the town any part of the
contents of any privy vaults, septic tanks or cesspool, in any cart,
wagon or other vehicle or utensil which shall not be closely covered,
be watertight and kept clean upon the outer surface.
Any persons using a public way to transport
loads in excess of 10 tons for a five-day period or more shall post
with the town a bond or cash in the amount of $1,000 per mile. Said
public way shall be inspected by the Highway Superintendent to determine
the cost of repair by the hauler for damages caused by transportation
of loads which shall be borne by the hauler.
Where a way which was formerly a private way
has become a public way, landlords adjoining the way have no right
to restrict or prohibit the repairs and use of the way by members
of the public, the regulation and control of which have been entrusted
to certain public officers.
The Chief of Police or commanding officer is
hereby authorized to close temporarily any street or highway in an
impending or existing emergency or for any lawful assemblage, demonstration
or procession, provided that there is reasonable justification therefor.

The provisions of this Article shall be enforced
by local police, Massachusetts Environmental Police and local officials
appointed to enforce these regulations.
