There is hereby created a Community Relations
Board composed of a total of 11 members. The members shall be appointed
by the Commissioners of Denton. Such members shall be broadly representative
of the citizens of Denton and Denton area. Two of the Board members
shall be individuals under 18 years of age. Once the initial Board
is appointed, any vacancy shall be filled by a member recommended
by the Community Relations Board and approved by the Town Council
of Denton.
Of the initial membership four members shall
be appointed for terms to expire three years from the effective date
of this article; four members shall be appointed for terms to expire
two years from the effective date of this article; and three members
shall be appointed for one year from the effective date of this article.
Thereafter, the term of office for each member shall be three years.
Each member continues to serve after the term expires until a successor
has been appointed. Members whose terms expire shall be eligible for
reappointment, with no member being appointed for more than two successive
full terms.
It shall be the duty of the Community Relations
Board to foster and improve communications, understanding and cooperation
among all citizens of the Town of Denton.
Upon formation of said Community Relations Board,
it shall forthwith select a Chairman and other officers and establish
such administrative procedures subject to the approval of the Town
Council of Denton. All changes in the administrative procedures are
likewise subject to the approval by the Town Council of Denton.
